Hello to all of my Critique submitters and followers…I had a hard time choosing between the two so I felt both of them should be featured.
The Midnite – “Home”
The sound of The Midnite makes me feel like I’m back in Southern CA surrounded by 1990’s KROQ alt rock and punk rock music programming. Maybe it’s the vocals having a bit of a pop/punky kind of vibe. The music has texture and ambience of old U2 while still having the rhythmic punches of an Offspring or Blink 182. I like how the instrumentation winds and builds to a sort of orchestral unity. I enjoyed listening to a few other songs on The Midnite’s epk. I think “Temptation” is the other strong song in their arsenal. One detail they may want to look at is – they need to work on the vocal levels of the mix on this song. They’re not setting in that prime pocket.
JennyDMusic – “Can’t Go Back”
Lake in the Hills, IL
I LOVE the tone and feel of her voice. It’s hard to believe she’s only 16 years old. This young lady will have a long path ahead of her and I’d love to see how she develops. There a few slightly off moments to her vocal. However, there’s a warmth and spirit that comes through the delivery that makes them forgiving. Also, nothing expert vocal lessons won’t be able to smooth out in time. The song is well written and clever – nice start for a talented young lady.
